19 days until Christmas. Tonight Hanukkah Begins
In Germany there is Christkind , which means Christ child was considered an angle who followed St. Nicolas on his journeys. In Speaking of St.Nicolas it's that day today in many parts of Europe. (December 6th or 5th) It's celebrated on the 6th of December or 19th in Orthodox Christianity. Children put their shoes outside their door leave some hay for St.Nick's horse . Good Children get candy and treats bad ones get like coal. (Then again they could power something for an hour or 2)
Back to our main topic The Dutch , they call him Kerstman . Here in the U.S the other name you hear for him is Kris Kringle while Dutch settlers were coming the U.S they meshed St. Nick and Kris Kringle into Sinterklass. (or Sounds like Santa Claus)
There are many other names that I could just blab on about , but anyway Happy Saint Nicolas Day.
