26 Days to Christmas Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is one of those interesting Christmas Traditions ,pretty much the only one of Santa's reindeer with a history. (Though sadly we don't have a story about Blitzen) Where did thes story of our the "most famous reindeer of all" come from? Well the story is interesting , you can listen to here from NPR. The eventually became a song ,of course where his story is made out of this poor reindeer who has something different that the other ones don't have or understand. They mock the push away this fellow instead of being impressed or amazed. This is more captured in the 1964 special. As the song above is from, where our two man characters are feeling out of place for being different or wanting something different to what their social groups want. It is something the viewers at home can understand maybe they felt this way or maybe they are the ones who made people feel this way. The point of this story and song is pretty much about how even a difference can have a purpose, Santa found a purpose for Rudolph's glowing nose that makes him special. What this simple story is something that works and makes it timeless because of it's rather simple story and something that all of us can relate too, though not as reindeer . (Unless you are a reindeer than , thanks for reading) Christmas is a holiday that has so many messages to it that this message of just because you are different that doesn't mean you don't have anything of worth Also don't forget tonight the special airs on CBS at 8/7. And this wonderful website Christmas TV History has a great look at the special , I recommend the reading here. Radio Station of the Day Today's station is from Branson,MO , it's KCAX-AM 1220 am and K251BZ 98.1 FM they are stunting with Christmas music and they will make a great station to listen to through the Christmas season playing a various mixture of the holiday sounds. Outside of the Branson area they can be listen to on their website
and on the tune in app search KCAX 27 Days to Go Christmas time is a good time read , and might we make a book recommendation? If you love the history of Christmas and where some traditions come from, this book is for you. "Christmas Customs and Traditions, their history and significance" by Clement A Miles is a rather old book but still is very interesting read. Being from the early 1900's it maybe a little tough in wording to read , but don't let that stop you too much. Another recommendation is what the 1980's Christmas special , "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" was based from. It's a telling of the birth and life of Santa Claus as he becomes the well known figure that we know. It was written in 1902 by L.Frank Baum who you may know from the "The Wizard of Oz" stories. It's a fine book , and will interest those young and old. If you are looking for A Christmas story that sounds like Christmas with a fantasy story. Have good reading. I am probably going to this a few times this season , but Christmas commercials , or in this case a UK one so it's an Advert, are all over the place. There are some that I don't like...
We won't talk about that. I am going to talk about one I do like it's from the UK , as stated before. Watch as follows :
I really like this one ,it of course touches those Christmas sentimental notes, but has its own flair , where Mrs. Claus is awesome here. The story of the little boy wanting to replace his sister's shoes is so sweet but it shows he does care , like he says even though they fight. It purely is Christmas. It doesn't really scream buy something at M&S but it works anyway. Also Mrs. Claus! Reading "50 Shades of Red" ! The advert does a good job of mixing sweet and funny : Mrs. Claus being very sly with Mr.C and trying to hide what she did. It did give me some tears when I watched, so it worked.
Radio Station of the DaySome stations may and will be re-treads from previous years but that's not a bad thing. I really think this station does a great job for Christmas music. WCSF 88.7 IN Joliet ,IL , plays a great mixture of Christmas music, and is real joy to listen to, each season now. If you are in the area give them a listen and if you are outside the area you can listen online here and on the tune in app for moblie users (search : WCSF) visit their site here. 30 Days to Christmas We are back! (Under the Christmas Talk button) Some of these posts will vary in size, today I am doing a light introductory post , and one thing each post will have (or could even just be ) is the Radio Station of the Day.
