2 days to Go Christmas Eve EveWe say that Christmas is a magical season and time and that is very true, I believe. The four things to think about for Christmas is hope, joy, love, and peace. These 4 ideals are part of Christmas and part of the magic of Christmas. Christmas brings us hope, it's the season of hope. The original Christmas story, is about hope the hope for the savior to come. Hope the people have for that special gift they wished for. Hope is something that is easy to do, but easy to lose. Christmas being at the end of the year gives us the chance to reflect at the year and things that happened -both bad and good- and remember those we may have lost. A year is arbitrary line, but it means so much in some way, that we have a hope that a new year will bring good fortune and new hopes and progress. Hope isn't sitting around and doing nothing and thinking something good will happen. It's the spark on the match that lights the flame, and just as precarious. Joy is a very much a part of Christmas, Christmas is the season of joy. It brings me a smile when I know it's coming. Joy can be infectious, honestly, I am glad Christmas season, comes in the later fall / early winter. Christmas joy is something I can't explain really but, you know it's very hard for many to find a joy in a season where it's dark at 4:30 PM (though I don't mind it, my self) the weather is cold (usually, and again I don't mind it), but that makes the warmth of Christmas is brought out and joy can bring warmth. Joy isn't happiness ,happiness can come with joy, but it's more an expressed inner feeling. When we think of Christmas we can think of Santa ( I'm going to mention him a few times) where this man (hang with me) takes sometime and gives of himself as using phrasing in “Santa Claus is comin' to town” as only he can and we can, of our talents. That is something that Christmas magic is that joy inside as can make us think differently about we have a value. Any Christmas movie with a lonely person getting invited to a family's Christmas fits that message of joy that something small like including someone in yours can be a bigger thing to them. Joy can be infectious it can spread if you let yours out. It connects to hope in the way that if hope is the spark to the match then joy is the candle that holds the flame and spreads its light , that's how joy works. Did you know there are two holidays about love? Yes, Saint Patrick's day and Christmas (Ok I Kid, about Saint Paddy's day) but yes Christmas is a the season of love. Going back to Santa for a second, Santa is the story of love, a man who gives of his time to give stuff to people he never met . The original Christmas story of God's love. The love of each other that we try very hard to do. Love is hard , (that might be a song, I know love hurts) and that it means something more than just talking about two people in love no, it means the relationship between people and how we treat each other. Christmas is the idea of good will to others. Love is bigger than politics and it's bigger than cherry pie. (Yes that's what we said.) Love is an easy word to say and the concept seems easy but it something more. Love is an action; Christmas teaches us that action doesn't have to be huge and bought for , it teaches us a small action can be just as valuable. If Hope is the sparked match, joy is the light on the candle, then love is the candle holder, always strong holding the candle which we will get to , and the flame of joy, it's our foundation. Peace on Earth is a part of Christmas that is also the power of Christmas itself. Remember the story of the Christmas truce? Where soldiers on both sides of World War I took a break from their fighting to play with each other and just otherwise enjoy each others companies. Christmas is bigger than war, hating, and anger. Though it didn't end the war, it still shows both sides that couldn't agree on something are still human and still have something in common. The hope for peace is something that we wish for , doesn't matter if we mean world peace or just peace in life, there's something of how we loose a lot of connection during this season and stress of everything seems to be overwhelming. Not just at Christmas but through out the year. Christmas is the time to stop and let it go, to reflect and just really take a break. Not saying the life doesn't go on or stops because of Christmas, but the rush maybe miss apportioned sometimes as part of the season. Peace is part of love, the love and care for others even if it's just one person is a peaceful thing. At Christmas there's a connection to magic and that the impossible can happen. That we have a hope that it can. The beauty and magic of Christmas should never be lost, nothing can ruin it, though you can say over commercialization of Christmas has happened, but that can't stop it's magic or wonder. So, before this makes no sense at all , thankyou and may you remember the magic of Christmas and may it be a good one. Radio Station of the day Today's station is WELJ 104..7 in Montauk, NY . 9 DAYS TO GO ! and 8 Nights to Hannukah Today we look at an interesting, Christmas story about one thing that definatily goes with Christmas: Spiders. This is a Ukrainian story , though it also has stories in other parts of Europe. The story goes: There once was a widow who lived in a cramped old hut. She lived with her children. Outside their home was a tall pine tree. From the tree dropped a pine cone that soon started to grow from the soil. The children were excited about the prospect of having a Christmas tree, and so they tended to it, ensuring that it would continue to grow and be strong until it became tall enough to be a Christmas tree to take inside their home. Unfortunately, the family was poor and even though they had a Christmas tree, they couldn’t afford to decorate it with ornaments for Christmas. And so on Christmas eve, the widow and her children went to bed knowing that they would have a bare Christmas tree on Christmas morning. The spiders in the hut heard the sobs of the children and sad cries, and decided they would not leave the Christmas tree bare. So the spiders created beautiful webs on the Christmas tree, decorating it with elegant and beautiful silky patterns. When the children woke up early on Christmas morning they were jumping for excitement. They went to their mother and woke her up. “Mother, you have to come see the Christmas tree. It’s so beautiful!” As the mother woke and stood in front of the tree, she was truly amazed at the sight that lay before her eyes. One of the children opened up the window as the sun was shining. The sun would slide along the floor and slowly glide up the Christmas tree and onto the webs. As the rays of the sun shone on the tree, the webs turned into glittering silver and gold colour; making the Christmas tree dazzle and sparkle with a magical twinkle. From that day forward the widow never felt poor, instead she was always grateful for all the wonderful gifts she already had in life. The story has different versions but the same elements. Some versions say the Christmas Tree grew inside, also some versions say that Santa (or names realative to Santa) changed the trees. It also can be considered good luck if a spider appears in your Christmas tree. If you want to make your own spider as a new tradition here's how to make one , from Orkin of all things. read here Radio Station of the DAY Today's station is an intersting case, but it works. It's a news talk station that happens to be playing Christmas music for the season. WRHL-AM 1060 from Rochelle, Illinois. They still have news updates as many AM stations tend to do (usually at top of the hour) but the music is great and it's something different . you can listen on their website : http://www.wrhl.net/ and on Tune in search WRHL.
Rochelle, Illinois 10 days Until Christmas 9 Nights until Hanukkah Today on our sister site, Joshuaonline, is looking at another thing that is related to our Christmas Everyday plot useage. The "Fairly Odd Parents" episode "Christmas Everyday" doesn't use the ground hog day device the past two we looked at did, it fits closer to our original story with a twist. You can read that here though. Radio Station of the Day Today's station comes from Vancouver , British Columbia, in Canada. It's CISL -AM 650 they are playing a great mix of Christmas music of classic Christmas music. It's a great station you can also listen online, even in the States, on their website and on tune in search for CISL . 11 Days Until Christmas "A Christmas Story" is a simple movie , if you look at it, it's a few things that happen with a little arc of a nine year old boy wanting a B B Gun for Christmas. Look at the title it's "A Christmas Story". Then why is it a classic? It's a relatable movie, most of us have had that one gift that we really wanted for Christmas and would obsses about it, and hope others would come to our side on why we should have this gift. When you are younger trying to get something you would want for Christmas and the answer is ,you're too young, or it's to expesnive ,or whatever. Ralphie's expirence is again one that most of us have had. When watching the movie you are rooting for Ralphie to get his gun. It's a movie being told from a the point of view of adult Ralphie remembering this Christmas -A Christmas Story. Now connecting with you personally is only part of that , it also connects with you with its memorable scences. The movie has lot of them from the flag pole all the way to the end of the movie. The funny lines and actions connect with you as a memorbale movie where you can't help but talk with the movie when you are watching it. Like " A Charlie Brown Christmas" this movie is pure Christmas, and not everyone's Christmas is helping Santa save Christmas, or helping our father become the new Santa after the other one dies , it's more like Ralphie's where we want something very badly, we get a Christmas Tree (in some way) , we have school still for at least until a week before Christmas, and that's what our Christmases are like. I am not the first to say why the movie is a classic ,but this is my reason. Plus it is very funny and the comedy is timed well. PS: The 24 hour marathon is Christmas Eve starting at 8pmet on both TBS and TNT, thanks Ted Turner. Radio Station of the day Today's station has been a favorite for about 3 years now, it's from Marquette, Michigan.
