It started last night at 11:48PMET and yep it's that time of year , where the cold has set in. Well so far not this year in many parts of the country , won't seem like a normal Christmas. I wonder how that has affected Christmas sweater wearing. It maybe a record setting warm Christmas Eve This warm weather may make you think of some warm Christmas songs such as Mele Kalikimaka by Bing and the Andrews Sisters. Though maybe you prefer a warm Christmas or live somewhere where that's normal that might be your thing. Might be a good time to be able to test out that new bike or something. Welcome to winter , maybe the cold will come later one thing you may notice is the sun is little shorter than normal that brings us to our next song that could fit. What is this song ? The Atlantic actually took at look at this song it's a good read here. That's our post for today. Radio Station of the Day Good thing today is the 22nd , our pickings are getting tough. Today's station comes from Neenah-Menasha, WI WNAM 1280 on the ole AM dial . You can listen here and on the Iheart app search WNAM (you have to look under the live stations tab)
4 Days until Christmas Winter Starts at 11:48PM ET Ho Ho Ho! Well it's only 4 days left until Christmas, it's very busy here in the North as I prepare for my trip on the Eve. I hope everyone has got their lists into me or talked to one of those Santas that tell me things. Everyone here is ready , Mrs.Claus tells me she's seen that in some parts it will be a mild Christmas which is nice for me to move my coat a little. I will be coming down the Chimney and other ways I get in to make my trip. I thankyou for all the treats it really helps me along and sometimes I take some for the wife and elves. I did get to sneak a break this weekend and go to see a movie .. guess which one? I think everything is ready the reindeer are primed and they are bursting just to get out of the North for a bit. I say thankyou to you the parents for your work during this season. Christmas is fun and happy season but remember it's the season of joy and peace and it's not always about the gifts , yes I am saying that. Anyway thanks to Skyler and Mychiller Christmas for letting me guest write today and now I get to pick a radio station of the day very nice! Santa's Radio Station of the Day I like a bit of Classical music and if Christmas music is done in classical form it's quite nice. KING-FM in Seattle has a Holiday Channel , you can listen in Seattle on 98.1 and anywhere online here (direct stream link here) they are also on iheart 's website , and app just search " KING FM Classical Christmas" also on the tune in app search "KING FM Classical Christmas" and they have their own app too. Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas .
5 days to go ! (read that as the 5th of Christmas tune) Today we go commercial (I knew it ! You sold out man!) by a messy look at some Christmas comericals from here and maybe elsewhere that we liked. And some we poke fun at . First off, Macy's has a nice Christmas commercial. I guess this one is an online only one, may have been cut for TV , though I haven't seen it , what channels am I watching? meanwhile ... Poor cats being all dressed up, oh my gosh no no we'll support whatever group who is helping these animals please stop the music! Oh it's for cat treats .. oh . While you were dressing the cat as turkey .. then you wonder why it left that mouse in your shoe . the dog went shopping. meanwhile in England awww poor cat had an unlucky time . I think it's time to go to Barnes and Noble for a book hey it's Tony Bennet and Lady GaGa in the same store woah it's my lucky day I saw a dog at Wallgreens earlier buying stuff and now this: Radio Station of the Day
I had a bit of a mind blank for what to post today so , it's simple Radio station of the day post . I've deleved into classics before here is another station I loved listening to during the season KOGA in Ogallala, Nebraska on 930 AM is playing a nice mix of Christmas music , I personally enjoyed it. You can listen onlinehere it's also on the Iheart radio app search KOGA.
Also of note : WCCO radio is playing a radio play of "It's a Wonderful Life" at 8PMET
It's one week until Christmas it's almost here ,time does fly doesn't it? The age old question has been , is there a Santa Claus? The Question most famously asked by an eight year old girl named Virginia O’Hanlon in September of 1897. A newspaper , the New York Sun was asked the question and it was answered by Francis Pharcellus Church . His answer :"... Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence." :NY SUN It answers more than just yes or no, Santa is an example of that spirit that Christmas is about good will and giving and that person gives of his time to make the world's children happy maybe gives everyone that a spirit and glimmer of hope. There are always complaints that Christmas has become commercialized that could be very true that doesn't stop any message of Christmas whether the religious one or the one of giving and good will. It's a good time of year to think maybe how to be better to others and that hope lives no matter what. Like the Christmas Trees and lights that even if they are the tackiest thing ever brings a light to dark late fall /early winter time that the joyful music shows the joys while the slower music teaches us to slow down and look at what is happening now not worry about the past or future. While traditions of Christmas teach us that sometimes our lives no matter how much change happens that something there to remind you of a Santa Claus. There's a good reason why this has been long remembered and brought up again and again that it's part of our Christmas lore. Christmas is that special time of year , there's a reason why I made this website for my love of Christmas, my television viewing in December is mostly Christmas programming , I cut back on other shows and even my news watching for this time of year. That even if we see bad in the world that good exists and that Christmas shows that. NOTE: the Special "Yes, Virginia" airs tonight 8:30/7:30c on ABC (It changed networks this year ) Radio Station of the Day Today's station is a non commercial station in Michigan it plays Christmas that follows its normal format in a mixture of Christian and mainstream music. This might make a great change from other Christmas radio.
If you live in the area(s) it's on :
8 days to go... Today we talk of a book for Christmas , we talk of TV specials and movies and music, but books can also be for Christmas , as we said last week with our Christmas Carol Post. This is a fun Christmas book called "Letters from Father Christmas or The Father Christmas Letters written by the J.R.R Tolkien . It's a collection of letters written by Santa. I don't wanna give away anything but it would be good book to read as an adult or child , it has so much in it. If you like Tolkien's other works you will like this if you don't you will still like it . Yes that was short, but I really don't wanna give anything away for the fun of reading it yourself. Radio Station of the dayToday's radio station comes from the land of Christmas, ok fine Miami . WLYF 101.5 has an HD2 station called Today's Life it normaly plays Soft AC music ,plays a nice soft AC mix of Christmas music , it might be nice change from the regular music. You can listen live here or on tune in app search WLYF search WLYF select today's life. 9 Days to go Every Christmas , stockings are hung waiting to be filled with some little treats and gifts for Christmas. Some Christmas specials had fun ways of telling us how this idea came to be , such as "Santa Claus Comin' to Town" special . [Live Science has one legend story] " At the time, women without a dowry were unable to marry, and as a result may have had to enter into prostitution just to make a living. The impoverished father and his daughters were fearful of what would become of them. A former monk named Sinter Klaus, who was also known as St. Nicholas and is the real man that Santa Claus is based on , heard of the family's plight and decided to discreetly help them. "To save the girls from prostitution, the good Bishop Nicholas secretly left bags of gold near the chimney for them, one at a time," Donald E. Dossey wrote in his book, "Holiday Folklore, Phobias, and Fun." "The third gift of gold fell into a stocking that was hanging near the chimney to dry." According to legend, the father of the daughters caught St. Nicholasleaving one of the gifts one night while the rest of the house slept. St. Nicholas begged him not to tell anyone, but word of the bishop's compassionate act soon spread. [except ended] " Though there is no real known orgin to the idea (someone didn't write anything down) and it could be really anything. Other ideas were that people would wash their stockings overnight and leave them out and what a good place for our hero to place gifts. Radio Station of the day Today's comes from Philadelphia WXPN 88.5 , They have an HD2 stream that plays an interesting mix of Holiday music things you might not hear on other stations. As with most of our stations it's online as well . You can listen here or on Tune in search WXPN .

Since my grey matter in my head is not thinking of any ideas today, we are sharing Christmas News instead. In Christmas News : The will be full for the first time since 1977. From Slash Gear: A NASA spokesperson confirmed the full moon and its details in a statement to ABC News, saying the next Christmas full moon — the one in 2034, that is — will peak in size at 3:54AM EST, considerably earlier than the one we’ll see in 11 days. This upcoming full moon is called the “Full Cold Moon,” a name derived from the month’s typically cold weather.
