2 days to Go Christmas Eve Eve
We say that Christmas is a magical season and time and that is very true, I believe. The four things to think about for Christmas is hope, joy, love, and peace. These 4 ideals are part of Christmas and part of the magic of Christmas. Christmas brings us hope, it's the season of hope. The original Christmas story, is about hope the hope for the savior to come. Hope the people have for that special gift they wished for. Hope is something that is easy to do, but easy to lose. Christmas being at the end of the year gives us the chance to reflect at the year and things that happened -both bad and good- and remember those we may have lost. A year is arbitrary line, but it means so much in some way, that we have a hope that a new year will bring good fortune and new hopes and progress. Hope isn't sitting around and doing nothing and thinking something good will happen. It's the spark on the match that lights the flame, and just as precarious.
Joy is a very much a part of Christmas, Christmas is the season of joy. It brings me a smile when I know it's coming. Joy can be infectious, honestly, I am glad Christmas season, comes in the later fall / early winter. Christmas joy is something I can't explain really but, you know it's very hard for many to find a joy in a season where it's dark at 4:30 PM (though I don't mind it, my self) the weather is cold (usually, and again I don't mind it), but that makes the warmth of Christmas is brought out and joy can bring warmth. Joy isn't happiness ,happiness can come with joy, but it's more an expressed inner feeling. When we think of Christmas we can think of Santa ( I'm going to mention him a few times) where this man (hang with me) takes sometime and gives of himself as using phrasing in “Santa Claus is comin' to town” as only he can and we can, of our talents. That is something that Christmas magic is that joy inside as can make us think differently about we have a value. Any Christmas movie with a lonely person getting invited to a family's Christmas fits that message of joy that something small like including someone in yours can be a bigger thing to them. Joy can be infectious it can spread if you let yours out. It connects to hope in the way that if hope is the spark to the match then joy is the candle that holds the flame and spreads its light , that's how joy works.
Did you know there are two holidays about love? Yes, Saint Patrick's day and Christmas (Ok I Kid, about Saint Paddy's day) but yes Christmas is a the season of love. Going back to Santa for a second, Santa is the story of love, a man who gives of his time to give stuff to people he never met . The original Christmas story of God's love. The love of each other that we try very hard to do. Love is hard , (that might be a song, I know love hurts) and that it means something more than just talking about two people in love no, it means the relationship between people and how we treat each other. Christmas is the idea of good will to others. Love is bigger than politics and it's bigger than cherry pie. (Yes that's what we said.) Love is an easy word to say and the concept seems easy but it something more. Love is an action; Christmas teaches us that action doesn't have to be huge and bought for , it teaches us a small action can be just as valuable. If Hope is the sparked match, joy is the light on the candle, then love is the candle holder, always strong holding the candle which we will get to , and the flame of joy, it's our foundation.
Peace on Earth is a part of Christmas that is also the power of Christmas itself. Remember the story of the Christmas truce? Where soldiers on both sides of World War I took a break from their fighting to play with each other and just otherwise enjoy each others companies. Christmas is bigger than war, hating, and anger. Though it didn't end the war, it still shows both sides that couldn't agree on something are still human and still have something in common. The hope for peace is something that we wish for , doesn't matter if we mean world peace or just peace in life, there's something of how we loose a lot of connection during this season and stress of everything seems to be overwhelming. Not just at Christmas but through out the year. Christmas is the time to stop and let it go, to reflect and just really take a break. Not saying the life doesn't go on or stops because of Christmas, but the rush maybe miss apportioned sometimes as part of the season. Peace is part of love, the love and care for others even if it's just one person is a peaceful thing.
At Christmas there's a connection to magic and that the impossible can happen. That we have a hope that it can. The beauty and magic of Christmas should never be lost, nothing can ruin it, though you can say over commercialization of Christmas has happened, but that can't stop it's magic or wonder. So, before this makes no sense at all , thankyou and may you remember the magic of Christmas and may it be a good one.
